Premiere: The Ransom Brothers | Part of the Show

What began as two acquaintances with shared taste in guitars and vinyl records, has now evolved into a collision of classic Southern Rock and outlaw country music. Singer/songwriter Sean McHargue and guitarist Daniel Solis have joined to form The Ransom Brothers, an Austin-based duo that blends haunting and accessible lyrics with gritty, saturated guitar tone.

They draw their influence from legends such as Willie Nelson, Stevie Ray Vaughan, and Pink Floyd, as well as modern artists like Sturgill Simpson, Tyler Childers, and Whiskey Myers. While they make a concerted effort to honor the pioneers that paved the road before them, they have every intention of going off the beaten path and creating their own image and sound as stand alone, one-of-a-kind artists.

Today, The Ransom Brothers are premiering their latest single, “Part of the Show," available to stream tomorrow, November 6th. With the soulful twang of the harmonica in the intro, “Part of the Show” sounds like something you’d find on the likes of a Turnpike Troubadours album. The song describes a tough, take-no-shit woman that you could find at any local dive bar. She’s not sweet and her favorite way to greet you is not with a hello, but a “kiss my ass and go to hell.” She knows she’s a mystery and she knows she’s got a way with men and she takes that fact and runs with it.

“You can play a man like a Steinway / Need someone like you on the highway”

Remember Lorrie from the Turnpike song, “The Mercury?” I think the woman described by The Ransom Brothers could be her best friend. The Ransom Brothers spend a little over four minutes describing her and by the end, I feel like I have a picture in my minds' eye, or can at least pull from memory, women like this I’ve seen in the bars over the years. It’s a relatable, catchy song.

“You’re a boot on the cigarette / a scratch mark on a second set / folded cards on a winning bet”

This is a great song and is third in a succession of four singles that The Ransom Brothers are releasing this fall. “Fear of Missing Out” and “High Hopes” were released in September and October of this year and can be found on streaming services.
