Lance Rogers: Pretty Gone

Lance Rogers: Pretty Gone

A clean mix of wittiness and heel-pounding sonics, Lance Rogers’ latest single, “Pretty Gone,” is here - and it’s pretty damn good.

“This song is sort of a humorous song about a guy that lost his beautiful girlfriend and is trying to figure out how it happened,” Rogers said of the piece. “As the song progresses, it becomes apparent that he drinks too much and he was really the problem the entire time.”

Fresh off of the renowned Red Barn Radio stage, which features the finest of Appalachia’s music scene, Rogers' sound glowed on the July 20th live broadcast, blending tunes from his 2021 self-titled release, as well as new works - all while backed by a full band to further compliment his dusty, dirt-road tone.

“Red Barn was incredible! I’ve been there several times as an audience member and it really blew my mind when I got invited to actually be on it,” Rogers beamed. “Playing with a full band has been fun, a lot more work, but absolutely worth it. Certain songs just sound better with the full force of a solid band. I still enjoy my solo shows too, but I love seeing the audience response to the new sound.”

Having an already stocked catalogue of writing tucked in his pocket, “Pretty Gone” is certain to find its way on Rogers’ next album, which lurks just beyond the horizon - but Rogers has his own creative twist.

“A new album, it’s coming. Maybe a little differently this time, however,” hints Rogers. “I’ll be releasing a song at a time until I get the amount of songs needed to make a full album. The next few will be feel good, uptempo “bangers.” Then I’ll get back to sad.”

Most importantly, Rogers recognizes the music blossoming from the Kentucky foothill region - and he does not take his roots for granted.

“It’s incredible seeing my friends get out there and get recognition from the region and beyond. We’re in an amazing period of independent country music and I love every minute of it.”
