Premiere | Kimmi Bitter: I Dream of You
Today we are excited to share a sneak peek of a new video from Kimmi Bitter, a self-described “Americana throwback” by the way of California, her video for the single, “I Dream of You” is out everywhere on November 3rd. Although Kimmi has released a few singles since her EP in 2019, this single will be one featured on her upcoming full-length album, due out in 2023.
Kimmi had this to say about her new single, “it was produced by Michael Gurley in Los Angeles, CA. It is an original song recorded to satisfy my nostalgic obsession to revitalize the bygone era of a sweet and sad 1960's style country ballad and bring country music back to its homegrown roots. It is one of the singles leading up to a debut full-length album drop coming 2023. It was written and recorded this past August during a few day break in between the past 18 months of non-stop touring I have been pursuing across the states in my '95 Dodge van.”
Listening to “I Dream of You” is like taking a step back in time. A few notes in, you can’t help but pick up on a sound that is reminiscent of the music legends like Patsy Cline were making in the 60s. The single leaves you wanting more of this music that Bitter is producing. You can’t help but be curious how the rest of her upcoming album will pay homage to the golden era of country. Mimicking the look of a desaturated Super 8 film, gives the video a decidedly retro feel, and Bitter looks like she’s been plucked straight from the Nashville of the 1960’s and inserted in a modern day world. Kimmi Bitter perfectly blends the old with the new, which is no easy task. Balancing the nod to nostalgia without sounding like a tribute act is a delicate line to walk and Kimmi Bitter has done it and done it well. The Nashville of the 60’s may be long gone, but this “Americana throwback” and her distinctive voice are keeping the sound alive.
