Eric Bolander: Magic Moon Single Release

Eric Bolander: Magic Moon Single Release

Eric Bolander may be a burly, bearded, and tattooed guy, but once he starts singing….watch out. With vocal harmonies that are out of this world and lyrics that are emotional and beautiful, Eric is a true Eastern Kentucky treasure. He grew up in the Appalachian foothills in the small town of Garrison, but currently calls Lexington home. While he has always been involved in the rock scene with bands like Modern Day Relic and Alcatraz Shakedown, his style has changed from the guitar driven rock to a more mellow, American/roots sound. His previous two albums were a perfect testament to this, and also allowed his acoustic guitar skills to shine.

Eric’s lyrics seem to combine his love of Kentucky’s small towns, his working class upbringing, and his keen sense of human nature. And while his previous albums focused on songs from addiction to the birth of his daughter, the new single, “Magic Moon” has more of an almost cosmic feel. I mean, the song opens up with the line “He’s on a space pontoon, with the moon in tow.” It’s got a driving beat, killer guitar/bass work, and Eric’s soulful voice singing about “just trying to live his whole life in search of hope.” This song had me hooked from the opening chord. Fellow singer/songwriter, Brian Combs, sums it up quite nicely. “This new single sees the two directions of his music melded together to form a new sound for him, that while staying true to both makes a whole new Bolander 3.0.”

This new single, “Magic Moon”, was released earlier this month and he plans on releasing the next single, “Window” in August. These 2 singles will be part of the new album that he is currently working on. I have been a “Boliever” for a bit now, but I have to admit, I am really excited about this new record. If you have not heard this “art teacher by day, guitar slinger by night” yet, please do yourself a favor and take a listen.
