Bart Crow Band released their album, I’m Not Finished, on June 21, 2019. The EP consists of five tracks, four of which are originals, with a brilliant cover of “You’ve Got a Friend in Me.” Three of the songs on the EP are brand new, with an updated version of “Wear My Ring,” a Bart Crow signature song in the Texas music scene. I’m Not Finished is the sixth studio album, and seventh overall, from The Bart Crow Band.

Bart Crow was born and raised in Maypearl, Texas, a small town about forty miles south of Dallas. Crow attended college at Tarleton State University in Stephenville, TX, and that is where he began to perform live music in front of an audience. He is a proud veteran of The United States Army, serving from 1995-1998. “Broken,” from Crow’s 2009 release, Heartworn Tragedy, is a tune he wrote about soldiers who come back from war zones, unable to escape the mental mess inside their minds. Crow is an advocate for raising awareness about PTSD and the mental scars that plague our young men and women who return from a warzone. “It’s about getting back home to that loved one and being so broken in the head and not being able to love yourself and someone else.”

From the Bart Crow Band’s debut release, Finally…, in 2006 to The Parade in 2015, Crow has had plenty of success on Texas radio and the Texas Music Charts. His single, “Wear My Ring,” sold over 165,000 copies and he has sold over 40,000 albums over the past decade. Crow’s 2015 album, Dandelion, debuted at number one on Billboard’s Heatseekers South Central chart. Bart Crow has signed with True Grit Talent Agency (TG), who manages artists such as Cody Jinks, Whitey Morgan, Ward Davis, and Sunny Sweeney. Since his signing with TG, Crow and the band have been on the road with tours booked across the country and beyond.

The first track, “Wheels,” from the EP, I’m Not Finished, is one of the three brand new tunes from the band. A song that is about going head on with life at full speed ahead. “She said / Somewhere out there / Your wheels gonna finally roll / C’mon put em’ out there / If you don’t you’re never gonna know.” In small town America, two different types of folks exist; The first type of people are those who never get the wheels moving and stay behind for good and take care of their family and raise a new one. The second type of people are those who get the wheels moving full speed ahead and never return. This tune has the Texas Red Dirt signature all over it, and is an instant Bart Crow classic.

“Whiskey Ain’t Working” is the second new song on the album. This tune has more of a classic honky tonk feel rather than the Texas Red Dirt sound of “Wheels.” A traditional country song with an all familiar theme, the woman leaves the man and the man turns to the whiskey to ease his pain. “My friend said take it easy / It’ll work itself out in time / And I’ve drank a lot of whiskey / But I can’t drink her off my mind.” The lyrics explore an all too real story about a man who pays more attention to his booze and weed, rather than to his girl. The girl stands up against this negligent behavior and walks on out the door, leaving the man to drink and smoke even more. Altering the state of consciousness doesn’t always ease the pain, especially when you can’t drink her off your mind.

Add a third new song, “Bad Case of the One Days,” a bitchin’ new version of “Wear My Ring,” and an excellent cover of “You’ve Got a Friend in Me” and this EP lives up to its title.
