The Vandoliers

The Vandoliers

The Vandoliers formed in 2015 and are a self-proclaimed group of “Converse cowboys” from the Dallas-Fort Worth area. The band consists of six musicians that each contribute a diverse background in genres such as punk, folk and country music. The Vandoliers are an edgy, raw group that have taken their past musical influences and turned their sound into a new Texas wave of country-punk, twang and tattoos, grit and guitars, mixed with honky-tonk and horns. The Vandoliers are the next wave of Texas music.

The six-piece band consists of the fiery storytelling of front man Joshua Fleming, Mark Moncrieff on bass, the animated Guyton Sanders on drums, Travis Curry, dressed for success and on the fiddle, Dustin Fleming on the electric lead, and multi-talented trumpeter and on the keys for the evening was Cory Graves. The band played an absolutely fucking fantastic set at the Blue Note in Oklahoma City on February 23, 2019. The day after the release of their brand new album "Forever" that is available on Bloodshot Records.

“Forever” is the bands third production, but it is their debut album with record label Bloodshot Records. The previously two albums “Ameri-Kinda” (2016) and “The Native” (2017) were produced on State Fair Records. “Forever” is much different than the first two albums and can easily be summed up as a turning point in a defining sound of a new frontier of Texas country-punk music with a throwback of Texas Red Dirt. It is a mix of red dirt and cowpunk taken to a level that has never been heard before.

The album was produced and recorded by Adam Hill (Low Cut Connie, The Bo-Keys, Deer Tick…) at American Recording Studios in Memphis, TN. The full length, 10 song album is most certainly on the early list for album of the year considerations. “Forever” for this group is not just the name of an album. It is a mantra, a way of life. “Forever is their credo of hope and determination- VFFV (Vandoliers Forever, Forever Vandoliers) is tattooed on the six members’ arms as an emblem of their solidarity and commitment to the collective, through good times and, more significantly, the tough ones.” The Vandoliers spend more than half of the year on the road, doing what they love to do. This album reflects what they have learned along the way. Go seek them out at one of your nearest venues, and in the meantime, go grab this record to put in your rotation of kickass music.
