DBPC Presents: Casper McWade and The Honky Tonk Rebels with Chris Stewart

Casper McWade and Chris Stewart brought the sad songs and the honky tonk vibes to the Mercury Lounge Tulsa on a Friday night. The crowd showed up early to take in the traditional country music from singer/songwriter Chris Stewart.

Stewart, from Kansas City, Kansas, played for the first time on the Mercury Lounge stage. His set included a mix of original tunes with a couple of cover songs thrown in the mix. Chris Stewart’s song writing is next level and can be compared to that of John Moreland and/or Josh Morningstar.

You can find Chris playing all over Kansas, Missouri, and at Buck’s Bar and Grill in Venice, Nebraska from time to time. Go support this very talented singer/songwriter. We hope to see him back in Tulsa many times in the future. https://www.facebook.com/pg/ChrisStewartMusicKC/events/

Caper McWade recently made his Mercury Lounge debut, opening for Charlie Overbey and the Broken Arrows. This time around, Casper brought his full band as it was his turn to headline on the Lounge Stage.

McWade, the Shawnee, Oklahoma native, grew up with country and gospel music instilled in his veins by his mother and grandmother. Casper has been building a great deal of momentum in the past year with the release of his recent record, Hello Lonesome. The album is a thirteen track, ten original song, gem. https://amzn.to/2DdmMyE https://apple.co/2QNbkkZ

2019 has been a big year for Casper McWade. Fellow musician and true friend of Casper, Cody Jinks, released two big albums. Both of which spent time in the number one spot on the charts. McWade’s song, “Whiskey,” appeared on Jinks’ album, The Wanting.

Casper was joined on stage by Aaron Failes on the lead electric, Kat Irons on the electric bass, Jakus White on electric guitar and fiddle, and Grant McCray banging the skins. The band played a set that is worthy of any honky tonk venue, big or small, in the country. The song writing and the sound are both stellar. The Honky Tonk Rebels can be compared to the sounds of Whitey Morgan, Ward Davis, and that of his pal, Cody Jinks.
